** Sunday Aug 3rd **
Day 1 = There was a long day ahead of us and it was an early start. Most of us from Ontario were up by 8:30 and the first order of the day was food. After breakfast most of us got recruited to help set up activities for later in the day. After that it was pretty much free time for us, which I spent getting to know a couple of the uys from Alberta and a JO from Utah.

After that the rest of the Americans started arriving in force and the events were soon to begin. We started off by getting into our chapters and getting to know the guys, they certainly are an interesting group.

Later on we played game shows to earn money for our chapter. The games were "Deal or No Deal", "DeMolay Squares", "Who wants to be a Millionaire" and "Wheel of Fortune". Deal or No Deal was by far the most popular and interesting event there was with several lovely ladies. From Job's Daughter and Rainbow to an unshaven man dressed up as a lady named Michelle and Jacques DeMolay was there as the co-host.

After that we wnt for a short church service and had ice cream for a snack.

I've decided to run for Master Councilor for ny chapter, I'd like to be elected but cometition should be fierce. For a first day, it was really good. I can only wonder at what the week holds in store for us.

** Monday Aug 4th **
Day 2 - Another long day even busier than the previous. Electing the Chapter Officers and choosing the Chapter name. After that we broke up into our tracks, I got to learn how to plan a term. A skill I needed as I was elected Master Councilor. Shortly after we got involved in a dodge ball tournament. We were on fire for the tournament, winning the tournament. But, unfortunately our winning spree sent my activity schedule right down the drain. We broke back into tracks and continued on with planning the term as well as other councilor responsibilities.

We held our third chapter meeting, our first ritual meeting. It was bumpy meeting but we managed to pull through. I will say that my chapter was rather surprised when I asked them to vote by raising their hands instead of speaking. Not to mention when I closed in the usual manner, instead if using the 9 O'clock Interpolation, we closed and met up near my room to plan the rest of my term due early the next day. I feel like ending this with a quote from Dan Bryan our youth director... "A Cult takes you away from family, friends and Church. DeMolay brings you closer to them......"

Today we had a flag football tournament. My Chapter, Fahrenheit Chapter, won the first game, then after that we went swimming. It had to be cut short because our next game got shifted. The other team had one main star player that did everything for them. The final score in that game was 14-0 but our chapter had a lot of fun.

Then we had free time and I tried to memorize the second obligation. We then had an excellent chicken supper and unlimited chocolate milk!!

Then after that, later on during snack at 10PM we had Pizza. After all the excitement we went to bed at 11:30

** Friday Aug 1st **
After a long but pleasant drive through some beautiful countryside, I arrived around 6:30 PM at the Campus. Had a light dinner and checked in and got squared away. Room M-108 in the main building, sweet, I'm in the middle of all the action and don't have far to go for anything. Met up with a few of the other early arrivals and caught up on what's happened in the past few months. A lot of this year's Chapter Advisors are Senior DeMolay who were Jo's and Campers just a few short years ago. Joe Pullin, Dave Labaugh, Justin Fry: Very weird, most of them still insist on calling me "Dad" even though they are now advisors themselves.

Try to call it an early night, Staff Meeting at 9, Breakfast at 8. Gotta remember to turn the air conditioning up in the room otherwise I'll be a Popsicle in the morning!

** Saturday Aug and **
Well Saturday was an interesting day, went over the changes in the program and got our assignments. I'll be the Chairman for the LT-1 Chapter and have Joe Pullin from Northeast Chapter in Philadelphia working with me as the Chapter Advisor. Joe pointed out to me as to how this was the third year in a row that I had been paired with an advisor from Northeast Chapter. Took a look at our campers list and see that Ben Magilsen will be in my chapter.

Lunch was interesting, one of the local lodges was having an "OX Roast" they literally roasted an entire Ox (I think it was a steer, same difference) in a pit dug in a cornfield beside their lodge building. A baked potato and two ears of fresh boiled corn rounded out the meal. What a great concept, this is the 15th year that the lodge has held this even and is a great fund raiser for them at $11.00 a head. In comparison to the normal sandwich and soup lunch we get on a Saturday, this was fantastic.

Afternoon was spent going over fine points of the program, such as learning how to run the Sunday Game Show and setting things up. Nice leisurely pace but I still didn't get a nap. Had our staff photo's taken then we changed and went out for dinner. Our Staff Dinner on Saturday is quite a treat, there are some very nice restaurants in the area and each year they try to find something different. This year they chose the Black Gryphen which is a new restaurant that opened just a few minutes away from the campus. What a great meal, most of us who have been in the past think this was the best we've been to. We started to entrees of Wings and Welsh Rarebit, followed with an incredible salad with a tangy vinaigrette dressing. I then chose a stuffed Chicken Breast entree that was tops, to say it was incredible would be an understatement. Followed up by a serving of Italian giletto and a cup of tea. I won't be able to eat tomorrow.

On returning to the campus, the DeMolay from Ontario had just arrived. Dad Horne and DeMerchant had volunteered to drive the guys down on Saturday and then return home on Sunday and to come back next weekend to pick the boys up. Now That's dedication!! The guys were in the dining room scoffing down the last of the pizza and were about to check into their rooms. While a few still needed to unwind from the 12 hour trip, most were exhausted and just wanted to sleep. For me it was bed time even though I hadn't worked all that hard physically, I was exhausted and have learnt over the years that I need to be ready for the campers arrival because once they're here sleep becomes a luxury.

** Sunday Aug 3rd **
Bit of a change in plan, Ben is now in another chapter so I only have one Canadian DeMolay in my chapter, Andrew Gelineau from Edmonton. The morning went quite quietly with not a big rush to do anything. Dad Horn & Dad DeMerchant left for home around 9:30 and I was just getting up. I didn't bother with breakfast and just had a cup of tea and a piece of toast.

Spent the balance of the morning talking over the lesson plans with Joe Pullin and determined who was going to do what within our team. Joe is a new advisor and he's not quite certain how he should deliver the program. Time for lunch. Probably a grilled cheese sandwich and a some chips.

The Boys started to arrive at 1:00pm and most of my chapter arrived by 2:30 with the exception of Garrett who will only arrive around dinner time as his family is just coming back from a wedding. A total of 11 boys will make up our chapter. 2 in the JO track, 3 in track 2 and 6 in track 1. Looks like a good mix, 5 in one room, average age is 14. 4 in the other room, average age is 17 1/2
